Masking tape is for protecting and blocking off areas when painting and decorating, usually made of a thin and easy to tear the paper. 3M™ Performance Industrial Masking Tape 301E is designed for industrial paint masking applications. Its temperature performance allows air-drying and oven-curing of paint up to a maximum of 100 °C for 1 hour.

Baking paint onto metal reduces the curing time of the paint. This can cut the production time for an object from days to hours.

It’s best to remove the tape as soon as the item you’re painting has cooled to room temperature. This will reduce the risk of the paint cracking when you remove the tape.
